Life skills and Transitional Living Services are an integrated part of the Support Service Living Unit and Community Outreach programs. Learning and practising the skills necessary to live and participate in the community is a fundamental part of gaining experience and ultimate indepdendence.

These skills may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Managing persons finances
  • Using community resources
  • Maintaining a reasonable state of health
  • Managing your personal care assistance by being able to asses what assistance you need, arranging assistance in a cooperative way, developing effective relationships with those who assist you, and effectively communicating your needs.
  • Creating a lifestle which is personally satisfying and respectful of others
  • Using community health programs to meet medical or professional needs
  • Hiring, scheduling and managing Personal Assistants
  • Managing your personal care assistance by being able to asses what assistance you need, arranging assistance in a cooperative way, developing effective relationships with those who assist you, and effectively communicating your needs.
